The Town of Fountain Hills is a master-planned community that began in the early ’70s.
Established by McCulloch Properties, the original developer of Fountain Hills was taken over by MCO Properties as a master developer. The town now has a population of approximately 25,000 year-round residents and nears 34,000 in the winter months.
The town is known for the World Famous Fountain located at the Fountain Park. The fountain runs from 9 am – 9 pm on the hour for 15 minutes, 7 days a week. The fountain can reach a full height of 560 feet, with everyday viewing of 330 feet. The Fountain Park is 64-acres and offers outdoor fun and relaxation. The park includes lighted walking paths, picnic areas, 19-hole disc golf (pro-am tournaments), a children’s playground, an amphitheater for events, and a splash pad.

The gorgeous views, desert scenery, and landscape offer the outdoor enthusiast from hikers to bikers many great opportunities. The McDowell Mountain Regional Park and local trails provide miles of activities. Fountain Hills offers many running and cycling events throughout the year.
In 2015 Fountain Hills became certified as an international member of the Dark Sky Association. This rare distinction has lead to a proposed International Dark Sky Discovery Center, a 15,000 sq. ft facility with a Dark Sky Observatory, Hyperspace Planetarium, Inspiration Theater, and an Immersion Zone.
Fountain Hills Unified School District consists of three excellent schools; McDowell Mountain Elementary School for Kindergarten through second grade, Fountain Hills Middle School for grades three to eight, and Fountain Hills High School for grades nine to twelve. There is also a Charter School for grades Kindergarten through eight. Fountain Hills High School has earned an “A” rating by the Arizona Department of Education. U.S. News & World Report ranked in the top 5% in their 2017 Best High Schools report. Fountain Hills High School has won seven state championships in the last three years.
