Norman the Mascot: "I can’t wait for the opening ceremony"
Here at D’Ornano Stadium, we’re already three days into the test events for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian GamesTM 2014 in Normandy. On Wednesday, Norman, the Games’ official mascot, made an appearance for the first day of the Jumping event.
You performed in this afternoon’s show at the D’Ornano Stadium. How was it?
I felt really small out there! I danced to Pharrell Williams’ Happy. All around, the people in the stands were singing and clapping their hands, and I even saw some of them get up to dance. I got to feel what it would be like to compete here, and I think it’s going to be really fantastic! The riders and their horses will be able to feel all of the crowd’s excitement – and they seem really into it.
Just 60 days and counting before the Games. How do you feel right now?
I’m really excited. I’ve got two more events to try and get as many fans on board as I can, and I’m ready! First up, everyone should come out to Lamotte-Beuvron from 5 to 13 July for the Generali Open de France Poneys, and then the Generali Open de France Clubs, from 19 to 27 July.
Even if the final selections haven’t been made yet, what would you like to say to the French riders?
What I’d say, to not just the French riders, but to all the riders from all disciplines, is that they should know that they have more fans than ever here. We believe in them, and we hope they’ll give us a good show. They’ve already done spectacularly during the test events!
